Perspectives of bilateral cooperation between Belarusian State University and Japanese universities of Kitakyūshū and Fukuoka cities located on the Kyushu island were discussed during the visit of rector of the BSU Sergey Ablameyko to Japan in May this year.

At the Kyushu University (Fukuoka) which is a classical university and one of top seven imperial universities of Japan rector of the BSU Sergey Ablameyko held a meeting with president of that prestige university professor Setsuo Arikawa. During  the talks parties discussed directions of bilateral partnership. Japanese partners confirmed their readiness to carry out a return visit to Belarus in autumn this year and to sign an agreement on cooperation. Japanese party also invited students and post-graduates to come to Kyushu University for research and study visits, to carry out research in the sphere of creation of systems of environmental protection and  information technologies. Rector of the BSU visited the faculty of information and engineering technologies and a number of laboratories where he met students and staff  and presented the BSU and its’ achievements in IT sphere and in particular image recognition technologies. Japanees colleagues expressed an interested in joint research on proceeding biomedical images in order to diagnosticate cancer diseases.

During the visit to Kyushu Institute of Technology among the key issues consedered were also ideas on conducting joint research in the sphere of informational and cosmic technologies. These projects were discussed at the meeting of Sergey Ablameyko and president of the Institute professor Morio Matsunaga, vice-president professor Masumi Ishikawa, dean of the faculty of engineering professor Seiji Ishikawa. Japanees party proposed to establish a an academic exchanges and expressed readiness to invite 1-2 Belarusian students to come to Kyushu Institute of Technology to conduct research in the sphere of creation and testing of spacecrafts. Rector of the BSU was acquainted with activities of the faculty of engineering and delivered a scientific report before students and staff of that faculty.
